China Airlines Ltd., Taiwan’s largest airline, joined the ranks of carriers who have pleaded guilty to price fixing, agreeing to pay a $40 million penalty to the US Justice Department. This figure seems large before one considers that the nine largest airlines reported 1.86 billion in profits on 31.7 billion in revenues in the second quarter of 2010, narrowly falling short of an industry record.
